AIDS

The Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome originated in west-central Africa but first gained worldwide attention around 1980. It starts as HIV (Human Immuno-deficiency Virus) which over time becomes full-blown AIDS.

Many theorists believe it was created by the government to kill homosexual men because it is very easily transmissible via anal sex (as compared to vaginal sex). When it first stormed onto the world stage it was believed to be strictly a homosexual disease, but now it's known that it can be transmitted between any two people. Theorists also believe it was naturally transferred from monkeys to humans via interspecies sexual intercourse.

It has killed many millions and millions more are currently infected. There is no cure for it, though many drugs help the affected prolong their life. Some famous people known to be infected with the AIDS virus are former basketball star Earvin "Magic" Johnson, who "magically" show little to no trace of the virus, and gangsta rapper Eazy-E of NWA, who apparently succumbed to the disease without even knowing he was infected.
